Bioinformatics training courses at the IGC follow a general format.
Training facility
They are held in an appropriately set-up training room where attendees seat in pairs and share a pre-configured workstation, all set for easy access to all our local Bioinformatics resources and remote ones, as appropriate. This guarantees immediate access to the main material of the course without any delays in the setting-up of the equipment, software, workstations or connectivity.
Teaching method
The teaching method integrates lectures with examples and exercises so that hands-on experience is acquired on-the-fly. When applicable, room is given for attendees to bring their own queries and problems. Written teaching materials are distributed during the courses. When appropriate, public domain software, sample data files, working documents, etc, are distributed at the end of each course ia a CD to take home.
Self assessment
All our courses are self-assessed by all the attendants by filling a simple questionnaire at the end. Results of this evaluation are continuously used to monitor the quality and to make improvements.
Selecttion of attendees
Selection of participants will be based on their CV and motivation. A maximum of 20 participants will be accepted for each course due to practical nature of the courses and the training room capacity.
Certificates
Individual Course Certificates are issued on completion.
