We organize at least one general course for beginners which is formatted for people with no prior knowledge in the subject. The course will bring them to a level that enables them to use present Bioinformatics tools and resources comfortably. It also enables them to follow other courses in our programme, when basic Bioinformatics knowledge is rquired.
A set of more specialized, thematic courses, is also made available. The themes are chosen in agreement with expressed wish from the Bioinformatics users community, especially from attendees of our courses.
The faculty is selected so that teaching skills and expertise are optimally combined.
Written training materials are distributed as needed and a final certificate is issued for each attendee.
The IGC has excellent facilities and is a pleasant setting for this kind of venues, and we expect that those of you who apply will find both the programmed training and the local contacts worthwhile.

The Bioinformatics training room is placed next to the IGC Library, and has seats for 20 attendees, projection, printing and other commodities.
Contacts with the research community at the IGC and participation in its everyday life are yet other reasons to attend a course in Oeiras.
