Who we are

The GTPB runs face-to-face Bioinformatics Training Courses regularly at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência since 1999. Up to now, more than 5300 course participants have acquired practical skills that they can use with a high degree independence. The Programme consists in a series of short, intensive hands-on courses delivered and fully documented in English. The design of the courses is based on sets of carefully chosen exercises, flanked by short lectures and participative interaction sessions.

Methods

GTPB courses are designed with methods that result from using past experience, in combination with what is discussed and agreed in international organisations that we cooperate with, such as:
GOBLET the Global Organisation for Bioinformatics Learning, Education and Training

IGC is a member of the consortium, the portuguese node of the european project
, a distributed infrastructure for life-science information

Cooperation

GTPB operates in partnership with other training providers, such as:

the Istituto Italiano di Bioinformatica, Bari, IT

Bioinformatics Training at the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK

the Dutch TechCenter for the Life Sciences, Utrecht, NL

the European Bioinformatics Institute, Hinxton, UK

the EMBL Australia Bioinformatics Resource (EMBL-ABR), Melbourne, AU
